Duckie Scoring Methodology

Last updated August 10, 2026

What a Duckie score is

Duckie's 0–100 score is a proprietary informational rating designed to summarize ingredient-level considerations in a simple format. It is not a medical opinion, government finding, laboratory test, recall check, endorsement, or certification that a product is safe.

What can influence a rating

Duckie may consider a product's listed ingredients, available ingredient research, regulatory or professional guidance, and the context described in our database. The current score is a screening aid; it does not fully model every formulation, concentration, impurity, exposure route, dose, or interaction.

Important limitations

  • Product labels and formulations can change, and our database can be incomplete or out of date.
  • A barcode match does not prove that the database record matches the exact product in your hand.
  • Ingredient presence alone does not determine real-world risk; concentration and exposure matter.
  • A higher score does not guarantee suitability for every child, allergy, condition, age, or use.
  • Organizations named as sources have not necessarily reviewed or endorsed Duckie or its scores.

How to use the result

Compare the result with the current package label and manufacturer instructions. Check official recall information when relevant. For allergies, symptoms, ingestion, poisoning, or a child-specific medical concern, contact the appropriate clinician, pharmacist, poison-control center, or emergency service.

Corrections

If a product, ingredient, citation, or score appears wrong, email hello@duckieapp.com with the product name, barcode, label photo, and the issue you found. We review correction reports and update records when warranted.
